Indiana Limestone Fabricators is expanding with new equipment and we’re looking for experienced sawyers, CNC operators, and someone who wants to work stone by hand. If you take your craft seriously, we want to talk.
We don’t need people who just show up. We need people who give a damn about the work — who understand that the stone leaving this facility ends up on courthouses, universities, and buildings that will stand for a hundred years. That matters. The craftsmanship matters.
ILF is investing in new equipment — a new automated slab saw, a revamped 60″ blade saw with multidirectional cutting, and a 5-axis CNC with multiple tool heads currently in design. We’re also implementing lean manufacturing principles across the facility. We’re building something here, and we need people who want to be part of building it.
We’re hiring for three positions. Here’s what we’re looking for.
What you’ll do: Operate slab saws and cut-off saws to convert stone to specified dimensions. Read cut lists. Maintain equipment. Work to precise dimensional tolerances in a production environment.
What we’re looking for: Experience operating industrial stone saws or comparable heavy sawing equipment. Understanding of dimensional tolerances and how to achieve them consistently. Mechanical aptitude — you understand your equipment and can identify when something’s off before it becomes a problem.
Will train the right person: If you have a manufacturing or millwork background and the mechanical sense to learn sawing, we’ll talk. Experience preferred but not the only path in.
What you’ll do: Set up and operate CNC routing and milling equipment to cut limestone panels to dimension, execute profiles, and produce carved elements per approved shop drawings. Monitor production quality. Identify and resolve tooling issues. Work closely with fabrication team on complex jobs.
What we’re looking for: CNC operating experience in stone, wood, metal, or comparable materials. Detail orientation — you notice when something’s not right and you stop to fix it instead of running bad parts.
Will train the right person: Strong CNC experience in any material with a willingness to learn stone-specific tooling and techniques. We’re investing in new equipment and want operators who will grow with it.
What you’ll do: Hand finish, detail, and work Indiana limestone using hand tools and pneumatic equipment — chisels, hammers, air hammers, pneumatic saws, grinders, and hand carving tools. Execute surface finishes, profiles, and carved details that CNC can’t achieve alone. Work from drawings and physical models. This is craft work — patient, precise, and skilled.
What we’re looking for: Hands that know how to work material. We don’t care if that material has been stone, wood, metal, or something else — we care that you have the patience, the eye, and the dexterity that hand craft requires. Stonecarving experience is a significant advantage. So is any background in sculpture, woodcarving, or fine finish work.
This role is open to the right beginner: If you’ve never touched limestone but you have genuine craft ability and you’re willing to learn, we want to hear from you. Hand craft skills are rare. If you have them, we’ll teach you the stone.
Non-Negotiable
You must be able to read a tape measure to the 16th of an inch. This is not optional. If you can’t do this, none of the rest of it matters.

Indiana Limestone Fabricators is a custom cut limestone fabrication facility in Spencer, Indiana — Owen County, in the heart of the Indiana limestone belt. We operate a 30,000 square foot heated mill on 20+ acres and supply natural Indiana limestone to commercial, institutional, and residential projects across the country.
